Show-specific viewing threads (Split from MyAnimeList Partially Back Online article)

Agreed on Steins;Gate 0, AoT and Overlord III. I thought FLCL hadn't even been picked up for UK streaming?
Also, given Netflix seem to just wait for ages and then throw the entire season on in one go it might not be worth checking to see what's coming out on that platform. Unless there's something they plan to simulcast? Episode specific would've worked with Violet Evergarden.

Fandom Post has a separate sub-forum for week-to-week episode discussions, with individual threads for each series being discussed. they setup basic rules for stating which episode at the beginning of each post, so you know whether to avoid any spoilers in the post if you haven't seen that episode yet.

I'm not really able to participate in discussion threads like this though, since I can't watch anime on an episode -per-week basis, I always wait until there are 5 or 6 episodes available to binge-watch.

Now you've got me thinking what could go wrong
So what happens if I get an alert where someone's mentioned me (cos I'm ace), and when I click it then it takes me straight to the post whereby I'm presented with who killed who and with what in this weeks episode that I've not seen yet?

@Teapot is it possible to prevent alerts from select threads?

There isn't, unfortunately. That said, the alert does say something along the lines of "Teapot mentioned you in My Hero Academia: Episode 51 Discussion," so hopefully that's at least an early warning that spoilers are ahead. In fact, you can see it in the alert I got when you mentioned me:

That would be a massive troll thing to do though surely!
But yeah wouldn't work though because it tells you what thread you were mentioned or quoted in.

So you're going to do individual threads for each episode of each series? Won't that forum just get flooded with innumerable threads with barely a page or two of discussion? You could potentially generate 2000 threads during just one season of anime. That seems like it would be a very cluttered forum and hard to manage or maneuver through; everyone will be sifting through pages and pages of thread listings just for the current series being discussed. Sure, the most current episodes will be listed on the first couple pages, but if someone wants to go back a couple episodes of a certain series to review what was said... o_O

I mean, no one is expecting a thread for every episode of every show in a given season. Only a handful will be talked about, those that don't generate much discussion will fizzle out and stop having threads made if no one is saying anything.

Yeah, Ok, and I suppose there will be only a handful of members participating regularly in this subforum - it's not like this is a forum with a huge active membership base, so I guess it will work well enough - unless the discussion threads become really popular... :)

What I’ll say in general is that this is a trial – if it turns out to become huge and unmanageable, we’ll have to think again and reorganise. I think we’ll be fine for the foreseeable future though. :)

It is quite a small community so shouldn't get too out of hand. I'm guessing it'll be the big shows and the surprise shows that are good that'll get talked about. So from last season stuff like Hinamatsuri and Megalo Box would whereas I think I was the only one watching Caligula in the end.

Depending on how it goes, there's always the option of just having series-specific threads like ANN does for its on-going discussions, but for the time being it will be cool to see how this goes and it's just nice to see some change to the structure of the forums, it's also especially useful for someone like me as I tend to offset myself by a season and use people's opinions to judge what to watch (e.g. right now I'm watching Megalo Box), so looking at the reviews of stuff like Banana Fish episode 1 are useful :)
