Simulwatch Planning Thread - Suggest & Discuss

I've seen Moribito once, and I just didn't gel with it at all. 😬 As ever, I'd read the thread for it, though.

    Hello everyone

Greetings, dude, and welcome from a fellow Scot! 😁 Great pick with Shirobako there; it's a favourite of mine, too.

    The General Conversation Area

I enjoyed it when I last watched it a few years ago. It's good solid shounen, I think. Be warned about one thing, though: the anime diverges from the manga, and then season 2 of the anime (called "Kyoto Saga") adapts from the manga, ignoring certain developments from the anime. That's what I...

    The General Conversation Area

Welcome back, Tachi. I'd say that Mob Psycho 100 is a very easy recommendation.

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Exactly. And that's why the old man, after having the same realisation in episode 1, was in a position to deliver the episode the episode previews to us. That's my read on it, anyway. That's a great point, and I hadn't even looked at it like that until you put it that way. That really does tie...

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Briefly back episode 12: It could very possibly be now that you mention it, seeing as how the chiropterans in Blood also appear human at first sight. ### Paranoia Agent episode 13 Following on from @WMD's comment about the show's ending, my post offers but one observation. - As Maniwa...

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Paranoia Agent episode 12 The way that this episode conjures its title display from that flickering neon sign is pure genius. I'm risking wearing the word out when talking about Kon, but... well, there's a good reason for it, I think. The person we once knew as Detective Maniwa is now the...

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Paranoia Agent episode 11 Here we learn what happened to detective duo Ikari and Maniwa following the fallout of episode 7. There are red camelias in the foreground of one of the scenes where Ikari's wife is having her one-way conversation with Shounen Bat. In Japanese culture, these represent...

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Saruta is an utterly contemptible asshat-wipe, isn't he? 😅 That's an incredible scene where the production manager is struggling to hold it together and he yells at Saruta "I won't even ask you to quit anymore: just die!" Wow. 😯

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Paranoia Agent episode 10 Paranoia Agent meets Shirobako in today's episode as we learn the inner workings of the anime industry. Of course, Shirobako didn't yet exist at the time... There's a production manager on the in-episode Mellow Maromi anime who has the name Oda Nobunaga! 😆 No relation...

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

It'd be fascinating to read any thoughts you'd have on it, dude. @WMD and I already compared notes on it here and here.

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Oh my god, that is uncanny. I'm not familiar with it myself, but NEO magazine's review of Genius Party compared "Deathtic 4" to Belleville Rendez-vous. How about that, eh? The interesting thing to remember about this observation, though, (and this overlaps with the war film simulwatch) is that...

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

I haven't seen it in a good while, but I'd like to revisit it at some point. You get to see sort of what're like pilot versions or proposal-spec outlines of Stink Bomb and Cannon Fodder.

    Paranoia memories: Kon/Ōtomo simulwatch II

Does your BD copy have a making-of in the extras called "Memories of Memories"? The old Sony Entertainment DVD does, and it shows a background for Cannon Fodder laid out on the floor at one point, ready for a tracking shot. It takes up an intimidating amount of space!
