The opening few minutes of Josee, the Tiger and the Fish have been uploaded.

Looking good so far. What is it with anime movies from the last decade and water imagery though? There's so many of them.

Yostar has uploaded a subbed version of the Arknights 1st anniversary special. Hope they can do more shorts like this in the future and maybe even a proper TV series in a few years once Yostar Pictures is in a good position for it.

I'm going to make the unevidenced claim that it's the cultural aftermath of the Fukushima tsunami

That's a shame. I liked the anime and was thinking of reading the manga, hope they ended it the way they wanted given the situation rather than just stop, although reading the story it sounds like it went on hiatus unfinished and unfortunately the situation didn't improve and they've decided to stop 😞
Hopefully they will eventually get better.

Yeah I only just looked at their other posts. Seems pretty suspect lol
Site was only created at the end of may and all contact data is privacy protected (along with the site being hosted by name cheap and probably the domain was registered through them as well) so that is 110% sus and the poster a bot or spammer.

Wow, impressive. It's also the fifth highest grossing film of the year at the moment and looks on track to leapfrog Tenet. And until this moment I had never heard of it - was it expected to do so well?

I guess you didn't watch Demon Slayer last year? The film was announced right after it finished.
As for its performance in the box office, it was riding on the back of the hype from the show and I've seen a couple of AniTubers in Japan say its really good. Also there's obviously the covid situation where hardly anything else got released. Looking at the stats it was released right in the lull between the second and third wave of infections in Japan, so I guess people felt safer going out at that time.
It's the only film over ¥10m that's a sequal of a show, which shows what an unusual case it is.
So to sum up hype, word of mouth and availability have produced this result.
I hope we get the chance to see it on the big screen.
