UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Hahaha excellent question. It’s a toss up between Boysenberry and a light key lime pie😁What about you?

I enjoy apple :) I seem to remember also liking apple and rhubarb - I'm diabetic so don't eat much pie now and am struggling to remember! Oh also I love mince pies and prefer them to Christmas cake and Christmas pudding (though I do also like Christmas cake) :)

Amazons now almost completely useless for AL stuff the last like 6 months of releases can’t be ordered to Ireland. Hanners tried to sort it but amazon didn’t bother on their end a shame.
Only place left now for Irish customers to avoid import fees is zavvi :(

Glad to see we finally got a response on the Eva Ultimate edition issue. Will keep my pre-order now we've had sufficient reassurance it shouldn't be an issue. It's kind of sad though that the delay in responding has already cost them pre-orders. Now begins the long wait till January (or whenever it's received).
Thankfully there's plenty of stuff in the eternal backlog to keep me enthused and entertained throughout Christmas.

I wouldn't worry about lost pre-orders, as Andrew said, I'm pretty sure there's a substantial amount of people watching the page for units that get back in stock.

Just during last week, at one point I think there were like 7 copies available and we're now back to sold out.

It's EVA, selling copies won't be a problem.

Ah so is it just a case of checking the NGE - UE product page to see if more become avavible to buy then? I would still very much like to try get my hands on one since the CE is out of the question

Check in every now and then, who knows? The thing is last week is when people started getting info from the German release and canceled their pre-orders, it's less likely to happen now.

Since a 1000 UE copies will be shipping in December (fingers crossed) and the rest in January, if people aren't satisfied with the UK version for one reason or another, maybe a few copies will get back in stock.

Check in every now and then. When I opened the NGE pre-order page in the last few days, it was sometimes possible to add the UE to the shopping cart. But I didn't check how many editions were available. I'm sure you'll still be able to get your hands on one.

So by delay, does that mean the Ultimate Edition UK version won't be out until after Christmas then or is there a chance of stock appearing this week or the next?

The delay is limited to a few days and should not have a significant impact on arrival time. Instead of arriving in on Friday and starting shipping Monday, it will be arriving today and shipping starting tomorrow.

I want to apologize for the delay in confirming this information. The supply chain issues are by no means unique to us, but with new impacts to delivery times across industries and the Christmas rush, we needed to ensure we were providing accurate information.

I think more people were worried about the complete silence from AL on this one

A quick post like this last week would have been ideal just to ease the tension between German and UK releases :)

"Hey guys, we've seen reports of issues with the German Ultimate Edition of Neon Genisis Evangelion. We're still awaiting stock but we will make sure spot checks are done to make sure NGE reaches the quality you expect from an Anime Limited release

Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns at....."

I understand where you’re coming from here, I really do. That said, our release is fundamentally different than the one you reference, and for us to imply otherwise would have only caused more confusion. This may not have been apparent on the surface, but the high number of independent factors between the releases would have made any premature assurances or acknowledgements irrelevant at best. By waiting until we had solid information on what our release was, we were able to keep every update relevant to people who had purchased our edition.

Indeed, if you were to agree to refund my £199.99 to my bank account, rather than the credit card I foolishly used many months ago, I'd happily PM you my order number so we can both be done with this affair. How does that sound? Never would I wish to deprive someone of dealing directly with a company of such proud repute.

Refund wise, we have to refund via the initial charge method especially on credit cards as a matter of security there on it. We used to have a more flexible policy but that was revised based on prior experience.

Very best,

Andrew

Any hope for Anime Limited to license Sailor Moon since they licensed and are releasing Card Captor Sakura?
No as Sailor Moon has historically bombed in the UK, and its large amount of episodes would be a huge BBFC cost.

MVM tried releasing Sailor Moon forever ago (though it was the edited version), and it nearly bankrupted them. Nobody has touched Sailor Moon since. There is also talk that international licensing for it has been halted after Viz annoyed the author since some European distributors made some big remarks about it when being asked why they haven't licensed further seasons. (Not sure if this has been solved or not given how AUS still gets Sailor Moon)

If anything, I ended up importing Viz's release of Sailor Stars Part 2 instead of waiting for Madman's version, as I had doubts about whether Madman would release Part 2 at all, due to multiple delays, and whether Viz's release were in danger of going out of print (they're still in print, as of this post, and are not Last Chance Items on RightStuf). Madman would eventually release Sailor Stars Part 2 exactly a year after I received Viz's release, but despite the inconsistency with my collection (I have Season 1 to 3 on DVD anyway, due to Madman using Dynit's masters), I have no regrets.

Those a4 art mini posters look so nice. Wish we got them, would be awesome to get them and then frame them. I might look into getting the Laserdisc art card things coming with the UK edition in a frame when it arrives. Cant believe the Itallians ruined that big poster though by folding it.

Looks pretty good. 8000 units, that's huge.

When Dybex look into releasing theirs in like 2056 in France I'll take a look, see if it's worth the price.
I hope Dybex will announce a release date soon. I will wait until then :D
130€ (110£) is also a really good price.

It's easier for me to brush up my French than to learn Italian from scratch.
