UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

No LE for Banished kinda hurts

At least they are back to doing monthly anncouments as suppose to quarter anncouments.
Sad that The Case of Vanitas and Shadows House didn't make it yet.

got my Fairy Gone complete season blu-ray on friday and noticed only the highest quality in QA on the back of the cover this morning, it says "includes Episodes 1-12" on the back but at the bottom in the disc spec it says 24 episodes lol, also bugs me that each disc still as Season One Part One and Season One Part Two on instead of changing it to say The Complete Series

Out of curiosity, as I haven't really been paying much attention Funimation's UK label since they acquired Manga, what's the discrepancy between the number of US vs UK titles they release on blu ray? Obviously, I expect the broad appeal genres such shounen, superhero & isekai to be pretty much 1:1, but how is it for more niche and arthouse works? I noticed Sonny Boy saw a release at the end of September, yet as far I can tell there's been no word of a UK license, so I'm wondering if this is likely to be an expected trend for equivalent titles like Heike Story & Odd Taxi?

Crunchyroll UK really love their shounen's.

Platinum End 🤮
Will wait for Black Clover Season's sets to go on sale.
Already own Yu Yu Hakusho sets and there's little justification to upgrade just for a okay set of OVAs.
Horimiya is the only one that I'm preordering at a later date.

Meh.
Time to import Shadows House then for the time being.

Platinum End appears to have a very high £64.99 SRP. The reason may have to do with that it has French and German dubs and subs on the disc (in addition to English), at least if it's the same exact release as the US one (which has all of those languages supported). Also, it is currently €63.99 on Amazon.de as well, so it really does seem like the reason why it's that expensive is to prevent importing.

I'll pick up Horimiya's CE once it falls to £40-45, can't justify more than that on something with so few episodes. Particularly since those extras aren't much more than we'd be getting in an AL set and those do not run for £60 >_>

I'm also extra hesitant these days when they don't adapt the whole manga into anime even though it was completed when they made the anime - like OK if it's really particularly well done but I wonder if I'd be better off reading the original source material in this case? :)

Yeah that is also a negative on the whole, although it’s still worth it for me since I really liked the adaptation despite not being complete. I’d definitely recommend checking out the source material other way tho :)

The listing on AoL mentions a detail:
Platinum End - Part 1 (tbc) Blu-Ray
The article number 37000910xxxxx is a French one - and is from the same numbering range Kazé France & Kazé UK used :D

Provisional packaging suggests that the packaging text was bilingual FR+EN, with Germany getting different packaging for the same discs.

Pre-ordered Yu Yu Hakusho (using PayPal Pay in 3 as it's £75.00), will be pre-ordering Horimiya LE the month it releases and will wait out and see if Platinum End Part 2 has a LE or not. Still need to pick up the first two seasons of Black Clover.
