I liked the first opening better then the 2nd one, though in retrospect the 2nd fit the 2nd season. I did enjoy Birdy though, as a series and as a character, it didn't pan out as I expected it to. I still don't know why the last ep of season 2 wasn't put in a different place though...Completely...

I have toyed with first person, mainly in short stories and in a few samples for new ideas. It is really good when dealing with one character, and also good if dealing with a detective style storyline, that way you can have the reader and the protagonist on the same pace in learning things...

9000 words? that sounds a lot like my old chapters, did a check then and each chapter has a length of between 4000-5000. I understand what you mean with the last chapter remark :P in a similar fashion I'm hoping to end the story with an even amount of chapters (including prologue and epilogue)...
