Before I start, this auction was found out of curiosity and I am not promoting or selling these items personally.

Fairly unique item I noticed on ebay this evening was the original 16mm film for Mazinger Z, Space Firebird and Unico. If only I had 2 grand to blow on something like this i'd put the payment down straight away! I've only ever seen earlier films, or annimations on a large screen or the cinema, but I have seen various hobyists look at 16mm film and a couple of cans up close but am yet to experience the look and "feel" of watching 16mm film.

My question is, has anyone else ever experienced it? Is it like blinking really fast watching a film?

I know the first and second season of Buffy were filmed on 16mm, and apart from looking a bit grainy and perhaps darker than the later 32mm filmed seasons - they were fine. What you're asking for is probably a lot different though.

So, no, no idea about the "feel" really. /Ignore my response?

2 more animated features (The boxes aren't marked could be Dracula and Frankenstein)
I haven't checked the projector thoroughly

Yeah, good luck getting two grand for that stuff mate.

Plenty of old TV shows were filmed in 16mm, so if the projector is running properly it should be smooth. Don't get the appeal, personally. Film can look great (if it's not scratched to hell) but it's a pain in the **** compared to digital media. A decent Blu-ray transfer is a lot better than having to look after film and maintain a projector.
