Ever wanted to play the very first Mother game but you couldn't due to the lack of an official English release? Well have no fear as it was announced by Nintendo that the very first Mother game, now renamed Earthbound Beginnings for localisation, is coming to the Nintendo Wii U!
It may not be Mother 3 (which is what everyone wants) but it's one step closer. You can download the game in a matter of minutes (it's out VERY soon).
Mother (Earthbound Beginnings, also known as Earthbound 0) was first released on the Famicom (NES) back in 1989. It later spawned a sequel Mother 2 for the Super Famicom in 1994 which then received an English release in the United States under the name Earthbound for SNES in 1995. A third instalment was also produced, however it struggled through development as it was originally going to be released on the Nintendo 64 with the DD expansion until finally settling on the Game Boy Advance in 2006 (8 years of development). All three instalments were never released in Europe until Nintendo finally released Earthbound for the Wii U Virtual Console in 2013.
