UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Link

This was posted on Blu-ray.com regarding Science Fell in Love. The poster didn't elaborate and nobody there has yet confirmed that anything is amiss. Anyone here, perhaps? I know we buy a lot of anime but few of us actually watch any of it...

I can confirm this also happens in episode 12 of Somali and the Forest Spirit, where the onscreen text translating the episode title is mistimed, appearing much later, & is also incorrect displaying episode 11 instead of 12. 😮‍💨

I do wonder if these errors also effect the US release as Sentai released both these titles, & it looks like Anime Limited have cloned the US discs.

I don’t think anymore so than already. Without any inside information, I assume AL will be part of Middle-Earth and Friends as “The group will include PLAION, Freemode, Dark Horse and other businesses.”

Middle-Earth and Friends shares are intended to remain within currently listed company Embracer which will subsequently be renamed.

Just received an encouraging email from Anime Unlimited:

Hope you had a good weekend! It appears from your account that the system unsubscribed you from our mailing list, I've now re-added your email so any future issues, please let me know.

Just noticed that I hadn't had a promotional e-mail from Anime Limited for a month. Went ahead and resubscribed manually. It might be worth checking your e-mail inbox to see when your last e-mail from them was.

I received a marketing email this morning from them about Spy x Family after not receiving anything from them for about a month. I resubscribed manually last night too, so that seems to have sorted it (hopefully).

Looks like the last email I received was 18th March. I haven't received any Anime Unlimited email marketing in ages, so I was never notified on any discount offers and never received the Magazine for last year.

Possibly, but I don't have any insider knowledge that would give me an accurate read on the situation. The most optimistic possible outlook is that this lets The Three Organisations Formerly Known As Embracer focus their organisation structure around one specialised area each, isolating them from any financial risks posed by the others. Even looking at it that way is troubling for AL though, since none of the three new entities are stated as focusing on non-interactive media, and they're bundled in with the AAA game division, which is potentially high profit, but also very high risk. There's the risk of a semi-boutique anime label getting torn up in the churn, depending on whether there's any significant shift in overall business direction for the parent company in this restructure.

A more pessimistic outlook has to factor in that mysterious $2bn deal that fell through a few years ago, the financial implications of which are no doubt a major part of the recent restructures and lay-offs. It raises the question of whether this split is a sinking ship launching a couple of life-rafts in the hope of saving some parts of the business. In that scenario, the hefty AAA-gaming beast that AL is tethered to strikes me as the one closest to the waterline.

Rental Magica Parts 1 & 2 are now available to order on the AllTheAnime store with a release date for 20th May and 17th June respectively. £39.99 (£35.99 AU discount) per set.

There's no artwork shown for Part 2 (its reusing Part 1).

It looks like the artbooks are the same ones used for Rightstuf's 2009/2010 limited edition DVD releases which is a nice get.

It's also 6 discs in total due to a broadcast order and chronological order (similar to Haruhi).

And despite the listing, the series is subtitled only for those wondering.

There is a £10 bundle discount if you get both in the same order.

Part 2 does have art work on the tweet they did.
Never heard of the series but why 2 rigid cases?! And why 3 BLU RAY discs each!? 😱
