US anime distributors Bandai Visual have announced their licensing of a new mecha-horror TV series - "Kissdum ~Engage Planet~". Having collected mixed reviews (mostly for it's sub-par animation) since beginning broadcast in Japan during April '07, the series is mostly known for featuring the mecha designs of Macross maestro Shoji Kawamori.

Caught a few episodes and kind ... well meh.Major flaw is that since enemies come out at night only the battles are kinda hard to see. Mecha are decent enough, but little O.T.T. (the escape pots of the mecha are mecha). Also they have a 'Chosen One' or equivalent, which pull it down a notch or two. Add in some talk about 'evolution' that would even make a creationist baulk.
While i can't say if it sucked or not, it completely failed to make me want to watch it.

This is the series in which the creator walked out sometime in early March, without telling anyone what the plot was, and it shows. Aside from the subpar animation the first few episodes were also badly scripted. Kiss Dum could be a potentially interesting show, but the staff it appears simply didn't have the time to execute it properly. The show isn't that good, and it won't sell that well as a result.
