i dont know if this topic has been made before but i couldnt find it so.............

Do your friends like anime/manga?

I have only one friends who is obsessed with Death Note and we hardly ever talk.

If you mentioned anime to 97% of the people i know they would only relate it to pokemon :x

I feel so lonely in this world !! my best friends gets truely pissed off every time i drag her in to various anime shops and is freaked out by the fact she knows the main characters and story lines from gravitation/Fullmetal alchemist. lol

So what about you guys ? do your friends like anime ?
 
I'm trying to convert one of my friends by getting him to watch Cowboy Bebop; he's powered through 2 episodes so far. :lol:

I'm like a hard pressed evangelist on an agnostic. :twisted:

As for all my other friends; no. Most of them wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about, let alone show at least a speck of interest.
 
I have a few old friends who I used to watch DBZ with, but not really nowadays.

Though one of my Uni flatmates came into my room a few days ago and saw my massive amount of manga on the shelves, and correctly identified it as such. He seemed a little...disgusted though. :(

yeah same, when it used to be on cartoon network it was quite popular with some people in my old school (although i was 10 at the time :l ).

Its just stupid that the BBC or ITV( i give ITV praise for cardcaptors a few years back) dont show any anime nowadays; considering how popular animes like DBZ were; they are so loosing out on veiwing time
 
I'd like to present a theory:

Amount of anime shown on terrestrial television x period of exposure = one f***ing awesome individual.

Then we have the current situation, which is precisely the opposite of the above.

I believe this could be a possible cause of the somewhat nationwide hatred and discrimination of all things Japanese (mainly anime and manga), which a lot of ignorant, shun-loving people we know possess.
 
my ex uni house mate but he lives over 5 hours away so I can't watch anime with him but we do trade dvd's regularly, as for my local mates they just call it cartoons and ask why i bother with subtitles as its so distracting and pointless to watch if its not in english IDIOTS
 
Most of my friends watch anime and we talk about some certain shows and I successfully converted 3 friend to be an anime fans... I think it's because we came from a different culture and a place where anime is really popular and always on television...

Oh yeah, haven't borrowed Doraemon dvd yet from my best friend....
 
Wow, i thought people had other people who liked it.

For me anyway,
i have a friend, younger than me, watched Death Note on my phone and is obsessed with it now. But i do get the arrogant people who ask why you watch things in Japanese and yadda yadda yadda.

I also have peeps who have seem all the DB/Z/GT series, and one who has seen Outlaw Star and Bebop when it was on CNX.

One mate who suggests its Cartoons, and firmly believes that ifs its animated to any extent it is totally not worth the time of day.

And also a two NARUTO obsessed friends. GAWD.

Mind you they don't disrespect that i watch Anime nowadays, they're improving as a whole.
 
I have several, though they're not into it that much, except one guy who's read all my Bleach/Hunter X Hunter/FMA volumes.
 
I have a friend at work that like it, and i have a couple of friends at tech that enjoy anime.

My general response to anyone who says that anime is porn, is that almost every Disney Cartoon Movie and series can be tied back to porn if you think about it.

My girlfriend thinks its cartoon porn but I don't mind her saying it cause shes trying to wind me up
 
My best mate also watches anime, but not to the extent I do. We're both anime fans and gamers. I lean more towards anime, whereas he leans towards gaming a bit more.

Trust me if you hear my logic to any and all Disney Movies Being Porn, it will Ruin Your Childhood. I can Crush Your childhood on movies like:

  • Aladdin
    Tarzan
    Little Mermaid
    Cinderella
    Snow White
    Toy Story
    101 Dalmations
    & Many More

And the animators always sneak stuff into the back ground like the naked woman cloud in Aladin (vhs version it was 'cleaned' up in the dvd release not that there was anything to see really)
