Recently I decided that there is a strong possibilty of me getting a PS3. However, I can't quite afford one right now, so this means I'll need to sell my 360 to get one.

The dilemna this causes is that I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 2 loads, but not much else on the 360 seems to be convincing me that it's worth keeping for much longer. Really, games like Mirror's Edge, King of Fighters XII and Street Fighter IV I can get on PS3. I'm also not sure if I should get a good deal in the January sales, or get the most out of my Xbox Live subscription (3 months left) and then sell the 360.

So I put it to you AUKN gamers:

Do I get a PS3 or keep my 360? Feel free to say why I should pick a certain choice. And no, selling my Wii is not an option.

Well what games would you want for PS3 that are only on PS3? as if its only one or two i say stick with the 360 for now (especially if you still have time left with the gold account)

I'd personally stick the 360 a little longer, make the most of your subscription (those PS3 games aren't going anywhere). With all of the financial wobbling going on right now it's hard to know how things will look in 3 months' time - perhaps there will be a price cut or another big chain shop will unfortunately melt down and sell things off cheaply (stories of people getting consoles for 90% discounts at Woolworths when my local branch didn't have anything good to sell off made me green).

Which exclusive games in particular are tempting you on PS3?

I really love my PS3 and don't have a 360. It's a shame you have to lose one to get the other though.

I agree with Rui. So you'll get a free Blu-ray with it and s few sexy games with it. The 360 still has a larger (much larger) solection of great games out for it. Plus it has dedicated servers for easy and fast online play (even if you do have to pay). PS3 may have free connection (if you have wireless at home) but teh connection times are quite shocking at times and don't get me startded on server failures. *roles eyes*

I realy want a PS3 myself but if you already have a 360 you mite aswell milk it for all it's got. Or at least wait for some more PS3 releases and when they eventual fix the server poblems too. Plus Blu-Rays aren't that cheap yet. Heh.

Duh, keep the 360 :p

With the credit crunch and all that, you'll see games and consoles going for alot cheaper, soon. You may aswell wait and see; 2009 being a new year for games, n'all. Aren't 'King of Fighters XII and Street Fighter IV' on 360, anyway?

Microsoft are supposedly waiting for E3 to announce their line-up for later this year and beyond. I'd at least wait until then -- June -- to see what they have to offer. In terms of exclusives there is, of course, Star Ocean IV and the forever-delayed Alan Wake (although, if it ever materializes, it will almost certainly be a disappointment and not worth the wait).

The games that are tempting me are Valkyrie Chronicles, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and MGS4, plus various cross-platform games. It's not like I have to lose one, but since I have a part time job and college to attend, my free time is rather limited, and I don't want to be buying games for another console when I already have my PC, DS, Wii, 360 and PS2. Some form of social life is desired by me.

Yes, but it's pointless if I'm getting a PS3 later in the year. I'm not going to buy a game just to sell it a month later.

I feel inclined to post this.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r9DXH9zjHjo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r9DXH9zjHjo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

But hold out on your 360 a little longer, the games essentially have very few true exclusives either way.

MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, Little Big Planet.

Halo 3, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect.

I'll get a PS3 myself soon, but there's no real need to get rid of your 360 bro, unless of course it's not working properly.

Personally i'd stick with the 360, the choice of games on it currently far outmatches the PS3, although i will admit there is a few games there i'd more than willing get the console for and probably will do next month if i can, Valkyria Chronicles and LBP being two of which, as well as Disgaea 3. But i'd say really at the moment, you're better off with the 360, its selection at the moment is far better with the likes of Gears of War 2(the patch for online + new achievements is due out this month) Fable 2 and its DLC this month, Ninja Gaiden 2, etc etc, but again, that'll be down to personal preference.

Having multiple consoles doesn't suddenly make you a recluse. Just because you have numerous platforms at your disposal, doesn't mean to say you have to use them (all the time).

Anyway, get the PS3 when you have enough money, but keep the 360. Use the PS3 to get the exclusives, and as the Blu-ray player that so many seem to purchase it for.

And just to get it in: ODST (due for release in the Autumn, assuming it's not delayed) is a good enough reason to keep your 360 if you're a fan of Halo.

Keep the 360 man.

Valkyria Chronicles is awesome, as is MGS4, but the 360s catalogue is way bigger and better. I know atm not much there interests you, but if it were me, I'd keep the 360. Get a PS3 when oyu have the extra cash. As rick said, you dont have to play it 24/7.

I'd do both. It's not like you'll get much second-hand for your 360, and it's gotta be worth keeping if only for Alan Wake. That one game was really the only thing temping me towards the Xbox when I decided on a PS3 - everything else (Blu-ray, built in wireless, free online play and the fact I'm one of these weirdos who prefers the Sixaxis) seemed better on the Sony side of the fence. Keeping the 360 means you won't have to rebuy any games either.

But I have less social contact than I like as it is, so I'm not going to buy something that's going to make the problem worse. Oh, and I don't like Halo. At all.

Then I suggest we forget this thread even existed in the first place seeing as you'll no doubt eventually want to (re-)complete the titles you plan on moving across to the PS3, resulting in you having more to do from a gaming point of view.

But if you want more time to socialise, then my new advice is: get the PS3 and ditch the old games because, if you're going to be more social, you don't want a mass of games sitting around doing bugger all.

Keep the 360 for now - at some point you'll regret selling a bunch of 360 games when you want to replay them. If you feel really desperate about playing PS3 exclusives then wait until it has another price drop.

have you considered an used ps3? you should be able to grab one for a nice price. I've seen a couple ps3 40G on ebay for around 160.

I never said I'd buying every multi-platform game that I own right now. I'm only getting Mirror's Edge. The other multi-platform games I'll get after buying the PS3.

That is a good idea, but I'm not keen on buying second hand consoles.

id wait atleast till your xbox live subscription expires, the videgame forums all say a PS3 pricecut will come soon, so you could save money, as for PS3 v 360, i have both and i would reccomend you buy/keep the console that has more games that you like on it.
