Name the Bands You're Ashamed to Listen to

映画男!!!
I like to pretend I have a high-brow or at least a normal taste in music so when I'm in Japanese class I'll namecheck TV on the Radio, MF Doom, Hyde, Fiona Apple, classical, jazz and J-Rock.

When I get home I'm subject to the tyranny of my desire to listen to J-Pop. I've managed to control it in recent years and I have been clean. Morning Musume have been sitting dormant.

Alas, now I have a new vice... it's from South Korea... K-Pop...

I dare not tell the Korean girl in my class otherwise my carefully cultivated image of normality would slip...

Cindy Lauper...
And many other 80's bands, such as bananarama, bangles, etc.... >.>
I'm not ashamed of liking Cyndi, but... yeah, the Bangles are a bit embarrassing. Them and The Beautiful South (however, between the two on my CD shelves are Bauhaus, so that makes me cool again - I have very eclectic tastes).

how can anyone be ashamed of Morning Musume :(

As far as Morning Musume goes, it's just awkward to be in a class where the women and girls listen to heavy metal and I listen to Morning Musume and now Girls' Generation

can’t stop watching the dancing falls off chair...

Cindy Lauper

Only heard 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' but I won't cast aspersions on masculinity here...

She was still popular when I first heard her on the radio!!!! =P

@Ayase - Bauhaus = win! Bauhaus Ziggy Stardust actually got me into David Bowie as well (as he was in his most pop phase when I was a teenager)

considering that my usual music consists of Metal (Death Metal alot of the time), Rock, old school Punk, Jazz, it would come as a shock to alot of people that i like stuff like this

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0kIF7TNi1aE&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0kIF7TNi1aE&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

also Funeral of a Friend as well

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AGikTiHFatU&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AGikTiHFatU&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

J-Pop doesn't really count because i'm a bit of an Otaku

Paramore >_>

Whiney vocals that make me want to rip my ears off after 3 songs, yet there's always something calling me back to listen to it...

I had a bout of listening to Whoa after watching a Melancholy of Haruhi AMV.

Panic! at the Disco and Junior Senior are my guilty music pleasures.

I also like Morning Musume.

I think it's well-known that I love cheesy pop.

But anyway, music I'm ashamed of listening... le'see.

I have a ton of anime soundtracks on my iPod (Not just the OPs, background music, inspired music etc.). Whenever I lend it to a friend they're always like "You're such a geek".

EDIT: Added "Just". I do in fact have a ton of OP/EDs on my iPod.

haha, I get similar results whenever I lend my ipod to someone. Except that in my case they call me weirdo (ie Ministry and Hare Hare Yukai playing back-to-back) =D

I'm not ashamed of anything I listen to. I'm happy to listen to almost anything. I had a mixed CD in the car the other day that had Static-X followed by some Starlight Express. My taste in music ranges all over... I have however learnt what songs don't go together on a mixed CD since then. =P

I love SNSD!

Not really ashamed of listening to them but I always get weird looks on the bus if the music is up loud.
I really like the Wonder Girls, 2NE1 and 4Minute at the moment...I'm a K-Pop junkie :D

Things I am ashamed of:
Alcazar
Glee Songs (Always make me smile)
Kanye West (I know :x)
Hairspray songs (Especially ones with Zac Efron's vocals *cringe*)
Miley Cyrus (NOT Hannah Montana and there is a difference)
3OH!3
Paramore

You’ve scarred me for life.

I want to add some of my Hip Hop collection. I can't relate to the fans now I've grown up. I’m just embarrassed by the lyrics, the misogyny and triteness. It wasn’t always so dumb...
