Hey guys. I have only watched Bleach and Naruto. I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some advice on new anime to watch on youtube. I don't mind what type of anime show it is, I am willing to try anything. Sorry if you guys have had a thread like this before, it's just because I am new here and I don't know the rules yet. Thanks in advance :)

Twelve Kingdoms / higurashi no naku koro ni (When they cry)
ROD (Ovas and TV)
Serial Experiments Lain
Ghost In The Shell franchise
Kino's Journey
Samurai X
Evangelion
Guslinger Girl
Cowboy Bebop
Slayers

Maybe Death note, gurren lagann and code geass might suit your tastes better though.

dont be overwhelming the poor boy/girl!

i'll recommend you 2 of my favorites:

Evangelion obviously... but its not for every1
and
Gunbuster

and if naruto/bleach is your thing maybe:
Cardcaptor sakura(this is shojo(girly) though.
and
Tenchi muyo.

these are all the anime i started off with and like 8 years later im still watching this stuff.

I am a girl thank you :D lol. Ohh is tenchi muyo that show that was on sky once. I think it was about a guy and sereval girls in his house? One had purple hair? Sorry i am new at this! :(

Well my other half mr dr666 has lot of anime lining the shelves and some of what you guys are suggesting is here.

He's got Death Note the Movie? Looks like a live action movie.

From what I can see from where I am siting he has Black Cat, Burst Angel, Desert Punk, Hellsling Ultimate, Fullmetal Alchemist, Sailor Moon, Moon Phase, Mushi-shi, R.O.D Tv and lots more than I can list here!

Oh just found the anime of Death Note! :D

If he doesnt have any Ghost in the Shell something is wrong with him. It's dirt cheap these days too. I can get you links if you want.

go for ROD and Death Note !! You will love it, I assure you!

I'm assuming that ROD in 7 vols is the TV series and the one in black is the OVAs.
Watch the OVAs, it will give you a fair idea about the anime and how the action rolls for this and it's a nice 2hour entertainment piece.

I can't say the same about Ghost in the Shell. The movies and the TV have many differences. In the TV series the "political game" takes centre stage and it shows things beyond the action.
It's a great show / movie, but it's a bit difficult to get if you're not paying attention. Which could cause the begginer to give it a miss.

Other shows like Genshiken, Excel saga and Welcome to the NHK have been accused of the same thing as well.

BTW, the GiTS movies inspired many things in the Matrix film. If you like matrix, you will probably love GiTS as well.

I know a lot of people have jumped in and offered a million recommendations...but the key thing here is...what types of things do you enjoy watching/reading? I mean I could recommend Bebop till I'm blue in the face but if you only want action packed colourful shows like Naruto it might not be your thing....

Outside of anime I like Sci Fi and romance books and shows.

Hmmm...I'm no expert on Romance stuff so I'll politely sweep that under the carpet for someone else to deal with....

If you're looking for Sci Fi then anime has a wealth of it to trade off. I'll recommend a few favourites.

Crest of the Stars: In the far future war breaks out between humanity and a race it created to work for them. You follow the story of the son of the man who surrendered his planet to them when he knew all was lost, and see his growth into a noble on the side allegedly "opposing" humanity. It's a space opera, and only 12 episodes long, but a fun little romp nonetheless.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The first TV series of two it centres round a public security organisation with a wide brief on opposing terrorism and espionage within Japan. More colourful and action packed than the movie it strikes a balance between an arc plot and more stand alone episodes dealing with individual characters. Lots of drama, lots of action, and a couple of wry smiles along the way.

Code Geass: Set in an alternate future where Brittania rules the world a terrorist organisation seeks to free Japan. An exiled prince is given powers by a mysterious girl to bend people to his will. Add in some giant robots for kicks and ever more stupefyingly in-breath inducing cliffhangers and you have a doozy of a show. Personally I might have put more mecha on my list, but I don't know a lot of people who share my love of gigantic robots.

Thinking back to it I MAY have a romance for you....

Escaflowne. A girl is transported into a fantasy world at the fall of one of it's main kingdoms. To return home she must trace the appearances of others like her in the world with the aid of Prince Van and a handful of others.

Okay, so it's romance mixed with some action and freaky noses....but who's counting. It was one of the shows that got me into anime, and a rewatch rekindled my love of anime.

Mhm... Romance eh...

Legend of the Overfiend.

I know BlackWolf really enjoyed this particularly.

i concur... legend of the overfiend is one of the greatest romances of our generation.

download it immediately and dont stop watching until the end credits roll.

Okay, seriously, possibly a little bit cruel there with Legend of the Overfiend....I'm all for a bit of fun....but suggesting tentacle porn is rarely the way to bring someone into anime.
