Shirayuri's Covers (Previously Godot's Covers)

I wasn't sure whether to put this thread here, since it's music, or somewhere else, but feel free to move it.

A friend of mine has been asking me to post up some guitar covers on youtube, and I figured since I'm going to all that effort, I may as well post up what I do on here. So yeah, don't expect it to be regular, but i'll be doing a few in the coming weeks. I'm pretty much doing whatever I feel like, but if anyone wants me to give [something I actually like] a shot, i'll be more than happy to consider it.

Currently i've only done Agitated Screams of Maggots - Dir en Grey but i'll be doing some more soon. Next up is either some An Cafe, or [due to request] i'll be doing Clever Sleazoid - Dir en Grey.

So yeah; here it is!

Good stuff, you make that look so effortless man. I often wish I had the coordination to play (but I barely have the coordination to walk in a straight line).

xD

Thanks man <3

It's really not that tough though. That songs only tricky part is pulling off pinched harmonics at the right time. I'm sure you could learn man, we all have to start somewhere :p Heck, i've never had a lesson, i'm entirely self taught xD

that's a sick cover, it doesn't look all too hard to learn, just fast that's all (not trying to sound like an arrogant ****)

well done mate

Bingo, that's why I covered it. It's a favorite song of mine, it's fairly simple, but fun.

Something like Sleazoid which I should be doing next has a few more picking parts and so on in.

I generally found from my experience of watching covers, I prefer to see a simple song done well, that a really rough, scruffy version of a complex song. Heck i'd love to try my hand at some Versailles, but I wont be doing those solos justice. (Not without busting out my BC Rich especially... and i'm sticking with the SG for a while atm :p )

Spyro, chugging the diru train, well done

Pinch har-*******-*******-*******-monics will be the death of me!

Which is a shame since the song itself seems easy if you can master them >___> Ahwell I'm nailing Canon Rock myself atm, although I don't think I'll want to learn to play it past the solo

Ah dude, if you want i'll explain to you an easier way of working the Pinched harmonics xD What mm picks do you use? And how large?

OT:

Here's my attempt at something a bit more complex. Not great, but I only learnt it a few hours ago before doing the vid.

Hmm, I'm not sure, K-ON! would be the obvious thing to look at, but trying to think of something a bit more classic that would be a good guitar song.

Did you learn that by ear or from tab? Given you've only just learnt it that's a better attempt than I'd ever be able to make at it.

@ Will-O'-The_Wisp: Pinch harmonics would be the least of my worries if I was learning Canon Rock (sweep arpeggios are my nemesis)! They aren't so bad once you know how to do them, but I find them difficult to get consistent if I'm playing fast. Or, rather, trying to play fast but sounding sloppy as hell.

This has reminded me I need to finish off restringing my guitar as well.

Cool stuff Godot, makes me wish I was better at playing the guitar now.

Keep practising and you'll get better :)

When you choose something drop a note here ;)

I only ever work by ear :p So yeah, that took a while to get the notes in. Upon listening back I can hear where i'm going wrong more clearly, so in honesty i'm really glad I recorded this just so I can hear the duff notes more clearly. Still, i've got the phrasing down, it's just amending the duff notes now, then i'll be happy :)

Do some JUMP, man. Dragon Ball and Z are good for it. Naruto features some nice guitar-heavy openings. One Piece would be interesting since you would have to like, mix it up a bit. Er, Bleach? Gintama? Reborn? All good **** for a video.
