I noticed I got some spare cash so I bought some stuff today, about £52 well spent.

Devil May Cry: The Animated Series - Region B Blu-ray
Like Shigurui, most likely wasn't done by Madman.

Pacific Rim - Region B 3D/2D Blu-ray Steelbook
I bought the Steelbook edition and good news the banner at the top isn't part of the cover (same applies to Great Gatsby which people went AWOL on Amazon about). It's also my first 3D Blu-ray release (009 Re Cyborg was going to be my first).

Kicking it old school:

I've seen if before a long time ago and owned New Dominion Tank Police on dvd for about 10 years. Its about time I got the original.

Only down side is its dub only. But its the original Streamline dub. So at least its the old cheesy one.

The Wolverine film has arrived just a day behind it's release date but it's here and I can finally witness it again!

The Wolverine: Unleashed Extended Edition - Region B (with Region A compatibility) 3D/2D Blu-ray Standard Edition
As mentioned in the General Conversation thread, the 3D edition is the only way to witness the extended cut for the 2D release. There are 3 discs included; one for 3D Blu-ray, one for 2D Blu-ray and it's extras, and the other disc for 2D Extended Cut Blu-ray plus Audio Commentary.

Also includes an Alternate Ending and a Sneak Peek to X-Men: Days of Future Past (in cinemas May 2014).

The new items arrived. I'm stunned to how well these sets look like in front of me. The back cover for Maken-Ki! does contrast well to the front side.

You bought Maken-ki? I'm so, so sorry for your loss.

I'm actually rather positive to meh shows (I'll probably be positive to School Days when I end up watching it at some point). Heck, I enjoyed DxD when a majority hated it. I'm even enjoying AO when even more of a majority hated it.

I don't like it because of the main character, I just don't like him at all

It's here, It's Here, IT'S HERE, FATE/ZERO
Shame about the audio. JP dub is Linear PCM but the Eng Dub is a constant 192kbps, which is lower than the usual DVD dub quality.
It's even more of a shame because this actually has a good dub.

Looking good. I hear Advent is quite close to release. One question, what made you decide to get the SAO sets knowing the show isn't as good as the fanbase say?

Yeah I've heard that Advent is supposed to be really gory, but I'll be good and wait for Viz to release it rather than watching it now.

I watched SAO when it aired so I knew it was okay. I love the music, I love the animation, and despite being pretty meh, the dub factors in to the purchase. Shame that both of Aniplex's bigger releases have DVD quality audio. I do see a lot more value in their sets since they use the Japanese Bluray masters unlike everyone else, they include soundtrack CDs and also other extras where available (Physical and On Disc). They also don't have locked subs. I suppose part of the reason I bought the SAO sets is just to support Aniplex and these types of releases as a whole. The releases are also pretty much superior to BDrips in every way, so the sets are worth owning unlike some releases from other companies.

I'll flip the question around, why did you buy the Madoka sets when the compilation movies can be bought for a fraction of the price/there's an incredibly cheap UK BD (Albeit much lower quality and lacking extras)

Good question. I honestly haven't got a decent answer but one of my main reasons is for the additional extras and the three soundtrack pieces, as Limited Editions they are worth the money spent no matter what happens. I got all three for £59 each from UP1USA (exc the overall P&P) and I did save about £30 by using UP1USA instead of UP1UK.

Regarding the Films, I decided to wait since Japan usually tends to re-release a new version like what they're doing with Kara no Kyoukai or witness AoA do a 'Fate Zero' which they release an import then do a domestic release.

I only have four AoA sets (3 Madoka TVs & 1 standard Baccano!) but I want more of them. Screw the complaining about the cost, they have better value than any other version out there (well baring the JP releases of course). Though I'm annoyed about Oreimo only available through JP Import but on the upside it's available to us rather than just being DVD only. And I can't wait to see what Samurai Flamenco's release would be like when it's out, though I am aware that AL has it.

tl;dr:

I bought LEs for the OSTs and physical extras because I loved the TV show.

I look at the AoA licenses and I just see this now:
Aniplex > Any version around - for instance the Bake and Nise releases. I much rather have five discs in three BD cases with a little booklet in one artbox, than two BD cases on one-two discs in each set. Especially when it comes to the numerous amount of subtitles that this show has. However I passed on Gurren because it felt too much for its price as only the episodes and movies were subbed, leaving the rest untouched.

First thing I did was to go straight to the TV safe version to see what they came up with. British Gym. Nice to be able to upgrade for Shaun and Fuzz as well. Looking forward to delving into all the extra features this week!

I also happened to get Perfect Blue as well, I've been looking forward to this for a long time since I've never seen the film. I'll just show the whole lot except the background part covered by the discs, if you know what I mean.

Oh, and here's the Xmas gifts for my mum, dad and sister. Now I need to get another gift to my sister for her birthday.

Never seen a cover that has the back at the front and vice-versa like this, at first I thought it was a reversible cover that had been put in the wrong way round. Must be a french thing.

Also worth noting that the Manga logo is nowhere to be seen. Maybe they got fed up of the bad PR rubbing off on them :p
